Jaguar revealed the production Jaguar Type 01, its first all-electric production car and a four-door grand tourer, at an event in New York on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The car is the first model of Jaguar’s relaunch as an electric-only luxury brand, with a US starting price of about $130,000 and first deliveries planned for 2027.
- Price: about $130,000 in North America (TechSpot reports $130,500) and £130,000 in the UK, according to TechSpot.
- Power: three electric motors producing just over 1,000 hp, with 0 to 62 mph in about 3.2 seconds and a 150 mph top speed.
- Battery and range: a pack of roughly 118 to 120 kWh, with claimed range of 400 to 450 miles depending on the source and test cycle.
- Charging: up to 350 kW on 850-volt chargers, adding about 200 miles in 13 minutes, according to Auto Express.
- Timing: sales open in early 2027, with first deliveries expected in the second half of 2027.

Jaguar Type 01 price and launch timing
Jaguar says the Type 01 will start at about $130,000 in North America, according to Quartz. TechSpot puts the expected US figure at $130,500 and the UK price at £130,000, more than double the roughly £62,000 that the old F-Type cost in Britain. Earlier estimates from Top Gear and Auto Express had pointed to a UK base price of around £120,000, so buyers should wait for final local pricing before comparing.
The car goes on sale in early 2027, with deliveries expected in the second half of that year. Auto Express says the first cars should reach customers in summer 2027. Jaguar positions the Type 01 above Porsche’s electric models and below Bentley, and it becomes the fourth luxury nameplate in parent company JLR’s line-up next to Range Rover, Defender and Discovery.
Performance and specs
The Type 01 uses three permanent magnet motors. Outlets report slightly different output figures: Auto Express lists 1,015 bhp, Top Gear lists 1,035 bhp, and other reports cite 1,030 PS. All agree the car makes just over 1,000 horsepower. According to Auto Express, the rear drive units supply about 70% of the torque.
| Spec | Jaguar Type 01 |
|---|---|
| Motors | 3 permanent magnet motors, all-wheel drive |
| Power | 1,015 to 1,035 bhp (figures vary by outlet) |
| 0 to 62 mph | 3.2 seconds (TechSpot quotes 3.1 seconds for 0 to 60 mph) |
| Top speed | 150 mph |
| Battery | About 118 to 120 kWh, 850-volt system |
| Range claim | 400 to 450 miles (test cycle varies by source) |
| Fastest DC charging | 350 kW |
| Length / height / wheelbase | 5.2 m / 1.4 m / 3.2 m |
| Wheels | 23-inch as standard |
| Drag coefficient | 0.23 Cd |
The chassis uses air suspension at all four corners, rear-wheel steering and a 50:50 weight split, Auto Express reports. Top Gear says the 0.23 drag coefficient makes it the most aerodynamic Jaguar so far, helped by motorized front shutters that add about 27 miles of range on the EPA cycle.

Range and charging explained
Range figures differ because the car is still being certified. Top Gear reports a claimed maximum of 450 miles, Auto Express gives a WLTP target of 435 miles, and TechSpot cites up to 400 miles. Official US EPA ratings have not been published yet.
The 850-volt system allows charging at up to 350 kW on compatible fast chargers. On older 400-volt chargers, the battery splits into two halves and charges at up to 250 kW, according to Auto Express. Home charging runs at 7 kW, or 22 kW on a three-phase supply where that is available.
Design and cabin
The Type 01 keeps the long, low shape of the earlier Type 00 concept. It is a 2+2 with rear doors, but Top Gear notes that rear space is tighter than in large luxury rivals. There is no rear window. Instead, a camera feeds a digital rear view display.
Inside, a 24-inch driver display and a central touchpad replace physical switches for climate and audio, according to Auto Express. Jaguar built the car on a new dedicated platform called Jaguar Electric Architecture, and the body is almost three-quarters aluminum. One rear body panel is stamped at JLR’s Solihull plant in England on a press using 2,500 tonnes of force.

Why the Type 01 matters for Jaguar
The Type 01 arrives about two years after Jaguar’s 2024 rebrand, which Quartz describes as divisive. Until now, the new direction existed only as a concept car and marketing. The Type 01 is the first production model that shows what the electric-only strategy means for buyers.
It also enters a crowded and shifting electric luxury market. Recent site coverage, including our 2026 Tesla Model 3 review and our report on BYD’s Flash Charger technology, shows how quickly range and charging speeds are improving at lower prices. The Type 01 competes on design, refinement and brand appeal rather than price.
What happens next
Jaguar will confirm final market prices, official range ratings and order details before sales open in early 2027. Deliveries are expected to start in the second half of 2027. Jaguar has said the Type 01 is the first of several new models planned for the brand.
