Hyundai Motor India is gearing up for one of its biggest product offensives ever. After completing 30 years in the Indian market, the company has announced plans to introduce 26 new models by 2030, including SUVs, hybrids, EVs, facelifts, and all-new nameplates. With a massive investment of ₹45,000 crore, Hyundai aims to strengthen its presence in some of the fastest-growing segments in the country.

Over the next 9-12 months, Indian buyers can expect three major SUV launches from Hyundai, including a next-generation Creta, a brand-new Bayon-based crossover, and an affordable compact electric SUV.

Hyundai To Launch 2 New Mid-Size SUVs And Compact EV In 2027

New-Generation Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta has remained one of India’s best-selling SUVs, and the next-generation model is expected to raise the bar even further. Recent spy shots from Himachal Pradesh suggest that road testing has already begun.

The upcoming Creta is likely to grow significantly in size, stretching close to 4.5 metres in length compared to the current model’s 4.33 metres. The larger dimensions are expected to improve cabin space and overall practicality.

Inside, Hyundai could introduce a premium cabin inspired by its global Ioniq electric range and the flagship Palisade SUV. A new dual-screen layout, upgraded connectivity features, and advanced driver assistance systems are also expected.

The biggest highlight will likely be the introduction of a strong-hybrid powertrain paired with the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine. Existing petrol turbo and diesel engine options are also expected to continue.

Hyundai Bayon-Based SUV

Hyundai is also preparing a completely new crossover SUV that will be positioned between the Venue and Creta. Based on the globally sold Bayon crossover, this model is expected to target young urban buyers looking for a stylish and feature-loaded SUV.

The new crossover is likely to measure around 4.18 metres in length and could feature a more premium cabin than the Venue. Hyundai is expected to equip it with modern connected-car technology, advanced safety features, and a youthful design language.

Engine options may include a new-generation 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and the familiar 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit. Industry reports also suggest that Hyundai could offer a factory-fitted CNG version, making it the brand’s first CNG SUV above the 4-metre mark.

The model is expected to arrive in India by FY2027 and could later receive a hybrid variant as well.

Hyundai Compact EV (HE1i)

One of Hyundai’s most important upcoming launches will be its first mass-market electric SUV developed specifically for India. Internally known as HE1i, the compact EV will directly rival the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.

The electric SUV will be positioned below the Creta Electric and is expected to be based on Hyundai’s E-GMP (K) architecture. Hyundai is reportedly focusing heavily on localisation to achieve aggressive pricing.

Battery packs are expected to be sourced from Exide in India, with 42 kWh and 49 kWh options likely to be offered. The larger battery could deliver a driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge.

Reports also indicate support for 800V fast-charging technology, a feature usually seen in premium electric vehicles.

The compact EV is expected to make its global debut around the 2026 festive season before going on sale in early 2027. Pricing is likely to fall between ₹12 lakh and ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Hyundai’s most affordable electric SUV in India.

Hyundai’s Strategy For India

With increasing competition from Tata Motors and Mahindra in both SUV and EV segments, Hyundai is preparing a comprehensive response through new SUVs, hybrid technology, and locally developed electric vehicles.

The upcoming Creta Hybrid, Bayon-based crossover, and compact EV are expected to play a key role in Hyundai’s plan to regain market share and strengthen its position in India’s rapidly evolving automotive market.
